Ecolab's Journey of Building a Cleaner, Safer, and Healthier Society in China
Ecolab is a global leader in water, hygiene and energy technologies and services. With 2015 sales of $13.5 billion and 47,000 associates, Ecolab delivers comprehensive solutions and on-site service to promote safe food, maintain clean environments, optimize water and energy use and improve operational efficiencies for customers in the food, healthcare, energy, hospitality and industrial markets in more than 170 countries around the world. The lecture will focus on how Ecolab China transformed from a relatively small business to a sizable profitable growth company in the complexed Chinese market and led shared value creation in China. Critical examples will be elaborated from the key areas of water stewardship and food safety.
Sam Hsu is Executive Vice President of Global Services for Ecolab Inc..During his 20-year career with Ecolab, Hsu has held several leadership positions in Global Services, Global Strategic Planning, Greater China, International Healthcare, Latin America, Treasury and Corporate Development. Hsu has been recognized as a “Top 10 Business Leader in Greater China” and “Best Leader in Driving Sustainability” for his work to drive food safety, public health, sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Hsu received a bachelor’s degree from National Taiwan University. He received a master’s degree in Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and completed the Leading Global Businesses Executive Program at Harvard Business School.
Emilio Tenuta is Vice President in Corporate Sustainability at Ecolab Inc.. His 32-year tenure at Ecolab includes 25 years of technical and marketing management experience in various industries including food and beverage, pharmaceutical, lodging, healthcare, primary metals and automotive. In the past five years, Tenuta has led Ecolab’s strategic sustainability journey focused on corporate responsibility, internal environmental stewardship and helping customers operate more sustainably. Tenuta drives Ecolab’s industry-leading partnerships with customers, industry groups and NGOs to address complex sustainability challenges facing businesses today. Tenuta holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a master’s degree in business from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.
